Singles League Format

Singles league is being played in a group format. We have 6 groups of 4 or more players each based on initial rank in the ladder. Each player will play 3 other players in their group. At the end of 3 weeks, the player with the most wins will move to the next higher group and the player with the most losses will move to the next lower group. This allows for more evenly matched games and has an added incentive for winning.

Example:

In Group B, at the end of 3 weeks of play, here's how things stand:

  Wins Loses
Player1 3 0
Player2 2 1
Player3 1 2
Player4 0 3

Player 1 moves to Group A and player 4 moves to Group C.

Rules

1. Scores: the winner of the match will be responsible for recording the score, even if the ladder rankings are not affected. Use the Easy Results Reporting system to do this. This way there will be no need for a hard copy score sheet and the league administrator (Tues = Jeff; Wed = Todd) will be able to get all the scores online.

2. If a player is a no-show, it counts as a loss for that player and increases their chances of moving down a group. Please notify your partner in advance if you will not be able to make it so that they can find some one else to play in that time, if they wish (using the allplayers_at_madisonsquash.org list).

3. In case of a 2-way tie in the number of matches won at the end of a round of group play, the result of the match between the 2 tied players will decide who is higher.

4. In case of a 3-way tie in the number of matches won, the total number of inidividual games won will decide who of the three will be promoted or demoted. A forfeit will count as a 3-0 win by the non-forfeiting player.
